Advice Davido Gave upcoming artistes (See video)

Nigerian singer David Adeleke, known as Davido, nominated for a Grammy, has encouraged emerging artistes to embrace authenticity in their artistic endeavors.

Reflecting on his journey, the OBO crooner reminisced about his decision to move from the United States to Nigeria to create music that differed from Western norms.

Davido highlighted how the distinctiveness of the sound he sought to cultivate in Nigeria propelled him to stardom upon his return to the United States.

He advised aspiring artistes to consistently strive for creative uniqueness, emphasizing the importance of standing out.

In a video shared on his X (previously Twitter) account on Friday, Davido conveyed:

“If I could give advice to aspiring musicians, just be original.

I used to live in America. I could have stayed just done what everybody else was doing. My calling was to go back home [Nigeria] and represent the culture [Afrobeats] and eventually, it still brought me back out here. But everybody else has their own path. The most important thing is be original.”
