Ijogbon’ ranks 6th on Netflix’s non-English global chart this week

The latest data shows that the movie recorded 5.7 million hours of views from a total of 2.9 million views, making it the sixth most watched non-English film globally between October 16 – 22, 2023. It is still the only Nigerian film in that category and contends with other non-English films from across Hollywood and Bollywood.

During its first week between October 13 and 15, 2023, it recorded 4.2 million hours of views, coming in at eighth place on the chart.

Written by Tunde Babalola, Ijogbon follows the lives of four teenagers, played by Ruby Akubueze, Kayode Ojuolape, Fawaz of Ikorodu Boiz, and Oluwaseyi Ebiesuwa from the rural village of Oyo Oke in south-west Nigeria, who stumble on a pouch of diamonds.

However, things get chaotic when the owners of the diamonds return in search of who took their treasure. The teenagers must come face-to-face with a lot of chaos as they work together to save one of their friends.

Directed by Kunle Afolayan, the cast in this adventure film includes Gabriel Afolayan, Adunni Ade, Manuel Bimbo, Yemi Solade, Sam Dede, Gregory Ojefua, Saeed Mallam, Femi Branch, Femi Adebayo, and Dorathy Bachor.

Ijogbon is currently the number one most-watched Netflix film in Nigeria and has risen from being in the top 10 in nine countries to 15 now: the Bahamas, Brazil, Colombia, the Dominican Republic, Guadeloupe, Honduras, Jamaica, Martinique, Oman, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Saudi Arabia, Trinidad and Tobago, and Venezuela.

It has only been two weeks since its debut on October 13, 2023, and time will tell how far it reaches on the global chart.
