Messi made a superb pass to Nahuel Molina, who scored and gave Argentina the lead just before halftime. Messi then scored a penalty to increase their score. However, the Dutch fought back with two brilliant goals from Wout Weghorst, leading to a penalty shootout.
Argentina gathered themselves and managed to defeat the Netherlands in the shootout. Messi impressively converted a penalty from 12 yards for the second time in the match, showcasing his composure under pressure.
Messi’s incredible performances during his 21-year career at Barcelona resulted in him winning seven Ballon d’Or awards, as well as numerous La Liga and Champions League titles. However, some people still had doubts about whether he deserved the title of the greatest player of all time due to his struggles in the World Cup.
