Bill Gates, the Co-chairman of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, shared an unexpected conversation he had with his 20-year-old daughter, Phoebe Gates, upon hearing about his upcoming trip to Nigeria.

During an opening address at an event titled “Advancing Africa: Unleashing The Power Of Youth in Science and Innovation” in Lagos, Nigeria, Bill Gates, the billionaire and Microsoft founder, mentioned that his daughter expressed to him, how fortunate he was to have the opportunity to visit Nigeria, as reported by Channels Television.

Bill Gates expressed, “While I am in Nigeria, I cannot overlook the incredible creativity that thrives here. Nigerian Afrobeats have gained popularity worldwide. When my daughter Phoebe learned about my visit to Nigeria, she remarked, ‘You’re fortunate to see Burna Boy and Rema.’ However, I recall my previous visit when I had the opportunity to witness Davido and Wizkid’s performances, and I was thoroughly impressed. So, my children believe I have come to a very trendy destination.”

According to Bill Gates, his daughter Phoebe emphasized that, the highlight of his visit to Nigeria would be the chance to see two Nigerian artists, Burna Boy and Rema. Bill Gates, upon hearing his daughter’s excitement about his visit to Nigeria, revealed that, he promptly looked up Burna Boy and Rema, to familiarize himself with their work.

However, during his previous visit to Nigeria, Bill Gates mentioned that, he had the pleasure of witnessing performances by Wizkid and Davido. He further acknowledged the incredible level of creativity that exists within Nigeria.
